One of the best perks of being a wedding photographer, is continuing to be part of my couples’ lives as they start their families. It’s always an honor to be asked to photograph the new milestones in their lives.

Growing up in Sag Harbor, Jainé Kershner considers herself a “local” and is very familiar with the Hamptons best beaches and stunning locations for your family photos. She says that each time she heads “Out East” to photograph her couple’s family photos, it always feels like coming home.

Newborn Photography

If there was ever a time to invest in your photography, it would be for your newborn photos. There is a short period of time where your brand new baby still fits in the palm of your hands and sleeps a lot, which is the perfect time for your newborn session. I always recommend capturing these photos 2-3 weeks after baby arrives to capture their littleness and also give mom a bit of time to heal and for the parents to being to adjust to their new family life. Newborn photos take place inside of your home.

Milestone Sessions

I’m so happy to offer milestone sessions for my clients. These include 6 month and 1 year photos.

Maternity Photography

When you find out that your life will forever be blessed with a baby, you definitely want to celebrate that time in your lives. I suggest having your maternity photos in locations that are meaningful to you as a couple and you’ll look back at them with excitement. Most of my clients choose to have their maternity photos taken when their baby bump is officially showing which is around the 6 month mark, depending on how Mom is carrying. Waiting till the second trimester will also (usually!) ensure that Mom-to-Be is feeling well and up for photos. Maternity photos can take place on-location or in your home.

Family Photography

Family photography in the Hamptons makes me so excited because I get to see my clients, families, and couples year after year and watch their children grow up. I become part of the family where the kids know me and are very comfortable around me. I can get that smile and authentic laugh out of them within a few minutes after our session begins. Most family photo sessions take place on-location.

Favorite Hamptons Photo Locations

Southampton

Southampton has access to some of the Hamptons beautiful beaches and cutest streets you can find. I love the Tate’s Bake Shoppe and Sip ‘n Soda is a classic old fashion soda shoppe which could be perfect spot for your family photo session.

Sag Harbor

Whether you want to go to Long Beach, the Long Wharf, or get an ice cream cone at the Big Olaf, you can make some pretty great family memories walking right in town.

East Hampton

I love East Hamptons famous Main Beach for maternity, and family photos. It’s the perfect location for your session! You’ll need a permit to access to the beach. Clients can also purchase a day pass or arrived once the beach is officially closed for sunset access.

Bridgehampton

I love how Bridgehampton is right in the middle of the Hamptons. You can easily get access to the beaches, local fruit stands, and local restaurants. Topping Rose House is also located in Bridgehampton which clients could rent a room for their newborn photos. Why not make a trip out of it if you do not have a home out east?

Montauk

Ditch Plains Beach is probably my favorite beach for photo sessions of all time. It’s gorgeous, clean, and if you visit at sunset, breathtaking. There is also the iconic Montauk Lighthouse and in town, the Candied Anchor is the cutest little candy shop in town which could be adorable for photos. The Surf Lodge has a boho chic vibe and Sole East is nautical inspired decor are perfect for newborn photos.

Private Estates & Homes

Newborn sessions are always photographed inside our clients private estates and homes. I always recommend scheduling your newborn session between 2-3 weeks of baby’s arrival.

What are the Hamptons?

If you have never visited the Hamptons before you are in for a real treat. It’s a short drive (depending on the weekend traffic!) from New York City before you enter one of the most sought-after real estate locations on the East End of Long Island. From the iconic and award winning beaches, best restaurants, to its shopping destinations, you will have a wonderful time visiting the Hamptons.

The Hamptons are made up of several towns that are within driving distance to one another. Including Southampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor (my home town!), Amagansett, Bridgehampton, Watermill, Sagaponack, and of course, Montauk. City dwellers can drive out east or take the Hampton Jitney to visit in the Summer months but my favorite time is to visit when it’s the “off-season” and just a little less crowded with visitors.

You can visit the Parish Art Museum or Guild Hall to experience a bit of the art culture. Visit Wolfer Estate Winery to enjoy their incredible summer rose or the Duck Walk vineyards on you way home. Whether you are there to relax or work, it’s one of the best places to explore and enjoy!
